Terms of service
Last updated: May 29, 2026
The short version
WC 2026 (“the Pool”) is a private, invitation-based World Cup fantasy pool run by Jon Morin as a personal, non-commercial project. By using the app you agree to play fairly, accept that the operator’s decisions on scoring and disputes are final, and accept the disclaimers below.
Who can play
The Pool is open to people the administrator has admitted. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you sign in with Google you also agree to Google’s Terms of Service.
Your account
- Provide a real name (or a recognisable nickname) and a working email address.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- One account per person. Multiple accounts to manipulate standings are grounds for removal.
- Don’t pick a team name, avatar, or display name that is hateful, harassing, or impersonates another member.
House rules
- Picks lock at the time stated in the app. After lock you can’t change them.
- Scoring follows the rules on the Scoring page. We may correct mistakes and adjust scores if a data feed updates after the fact (e.g. a goal is reclassified as an own goal).
- The administrator decides any ambiguity not covered by the published rules. We try to be transparent about why.
- No automated scraping or interference with other members’ accounts.
No money, no gambling
The Pool is for fun among friends. The app itself does not collect entry fees, hold prize money, or accept any form of wagering through the platform. Any side arrangements among members are entirely between those members and have nothing to do with us.
Match and player data
Fixtures, results, line-ups, and player stats are supplied by third-party feeds (currently API-Football) and may contain errors or delays. We do our best to keep the data accurate but we can’t guarantee it.
Termination
You can stop using the Pool at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing morinjj@gmail.com. We may suspend or remove an account that violates these terms, abuses other members, or threatens the integrity of the standings.
Disclaimers
The Pool is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the app — and in any event our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid to use the app, which is zero.
Changes
We may update these terms occasionally. If we do, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, mention the change in the app. Continuing to use the Pool after an update means you accept the new terms.
